As I travel around the country I often see ‘Retired’ put in fields as an occupation.
Although BDM will accept this (Computers just know that it is text that does not break the rules – they cannot of course read the text) it has always been my opinion that ‘Retired’ is a status not an occupation.
Give some thought to adding the occupation that they retired from.
e.g. Retired Aircraft Engineer
Why do I say this?
This information appears on the Death Certificate. As the deceased’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren research their roots and view death certificates wouldn’t it be nice to let them know just that little bit more about their ancestors.
A Little known Fact
This occupation field can contain many occupations.
In my case it could read ‘Retailer/Construction Site Worker/Funeral Director/Programmer’
Note the slashes in between the occupations
Just a thought.
